Welcome to the Sabah OSCC Conference 2019 @ Lahad Datu, Sabah. I’m proud to announce that Emergency and Trauma Department Hospital Lahad Datu has been entrusted by Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sabah to organize this very important event.
This event is organized to enhance our knowledge, understanding and skills related to One Stop Crisis Centre, a multi-agency service facilitated by the Emergency and Trauma Department in dealing with domestic violence, child abuse, rape and sodomy victims.
Statistics have shown that the number of OSCC cases has increased dramatically in Malaysia. This has led to significant health and emotional impact to the society. Unfortunately, our approach in managing these cases are still inadequate and therefore not fully optimize in delivering holistic care to the affected individual.
Therefore, we are bringing experts from various department and disciplines to deliver an in depth talk concerning the topics related to OSCC. The selection of topics are parallel with this year's theme - “From Oppression to Liberation” in which we are aiming to change the perception of the society that often blames victims for their misfortunes - into a supportive society that empower the victim sinstead.
We hope that participants will take the initiative to submit abstract as for poster presentation as it will cultivate a great attitudes in sharing knowledge as well as develop evidence based culture among the medical staff.
It is with high hopes that all the delegates and speakers will benefit from this course and also take some times to appreciate the beauty of Lahad Datu. It is surrounded by mesmerizing natural sceneries and tourist spot including beaches, bay, forest, mountains, rivers, diving sites and animal sanctuary.
With that, I welcome all of you to Lahad Datu.
Sincerely,
(Dr Muhazan Bin Mazlan)
